The Scandinavian Center, a convention center in Aarhus in Denmark, is located in Midtbyen at Margrethepladsen. The modernist architecture firm Friis & Moltke designed the Scandinavian Center in 1995. The building is now privately owned and used by a variety of activities, including conventions, hotels, and businesses. It is located in Eckersbergsgade, central Aarhus. [2][3]

The convention center is located on hilly terrain, between the Aarhus Concert Hall (Godsbanen) and Sonnesgade (Godsbanen). The building's design is a long, glass-covered promenade that covers the property's height difference of 11 metres (36 feet). The central stairway, which runs in an oblique direction through the building, includes walkways as well as elevators and greenery. An arched pipe-construction supports the glass roof. For the floors, you can choose from yellow brick, black granite, granite, aluminum, and jatoba. [4]

Per Aarsleff A/S, an entrepreneur, and Jord & Beton Amba were responsible for the project. The architects T. Skovgaard & Friis & Moltke designed the project. Schonherr, a landscape architect, designed the outdoor areas. [4]

Aarhus' city council made the decision to build a new convention center and hotel next to the Aarhus concert hall in the 1980s. Although the project was intended to revitalize the area surrounding the concert hall, the river valley along Aarhus River, and the old residential neighborhood Molleengen, large portions of it were never completed. The area was not used for much more than 15 to 20 years after construction of the ARoS Aarhus Art Museum, and the beginning of Godsbanen's redevelopment into a cultural center. This area is expected to become more active with the current CeresByen redevelopment north of the city. [2][3]
