65th SIAM Annual Convention
The 65th Annual Convention of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) focused on sustainable mobility's role in achieving Viksit Bharat by 2047.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi: Emphasized self-reliance across the automotive manufacturing value chain and highlighted immense opportunities for investment and collaboration in green and smart transportation.
- Union Minister Nitin Gadkari: Outlined the vision for sustainable transportation, stressing global alignment on BS7 and CAFE norms to tackle air pollution. He advocated for bio-fuels to reduce crude imports and boost farmer incomes, noted over 3 lakh vehicles scrapped under the scrappage policy, projected logistic costs dropping to single digits, and announced Rs. 25,000 for 'Rahaveers' aiding accident victims plus insurance up to Rs. 1.5 Lacs for victims.
- Union Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy: Highlighted over Rs. 29,500 Cr in capital investments under the PLI scheme and mentioned the steel industry's efforts to develop specialized steel for the auto sector to reduce import dependence.
- SIAM President Shailesh Chandra: Affirmed the industry's alignment with the government's vision for sustainable, safe, and affordable mobility, thanking the government for GST reductions and initiating the Automotive Mission Plan.
- SIAM Vice President Shenu Agarwal: Thanked the government for fostering a conducive ecosystem for the industry to prosper.
