What would you rather see a robot do: score a goal, join a dance battle, or bring you popcorn? Those are among the experiences listed for RoboPark at this week’s Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition).
The Hong Kong Trade Development Council says the zone will feature more than 120 robots, spanning commercial services, industry and logistics, entertainment, and healthcare. Its program includes robot dog demonstrations, robot football, a dance battle, and a station where robots serve coffee and popcorn.
The appeal is easy to understand: these are familiar tasks, made newly watchable by machines. But a live demonstration is only a glimpse of what a robot can do in a curated setting; it doesn’t establish how reliably or affordably the same system could work in everyday service.
The fair runs 13–16 October at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Which demo would you stop to watch?
