Certified Distance-Learning Course in Export Control Law

AWA Foreign Trade Academy offers an officially certified distance-learning course on export controls in Germany. The course spans five months and includes nine detailed training units delivered bi-weekly as PDFs or hardcopies. It utilizes e-learning components via the Moodle platform, including discussion forums and live webinars on Microsoft Teams.

Course Content

  • Introduction to export controls and licencing requirements for listed and unlisted goods.
  • Export procedures under the Union Customs Code, EU Dual-Use Regulation, and German Foreign Trade Act (AWG/AWV).
  • Technology transfer, technical support, brokering, and country/person lists/embargos.
  • Risks of criminal offences for individuals and companies.
  • Organization of export controls within the company.
  • US export control law: Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Target Group & Certification

The course targets employees in import/export, customs, or logistics. It includes review questions, a voluntary intermediate exam, and a final test in March/September. Successful participants receive a certificate recognized by the Bundesverband der Fernstudienanbieter e.V.
