The 48th YSU English Festival, held April 22‑24, 2026 at Youngstown State University, centered on literary community and youth engagement. It featured three memorial lectures: Randy Ribay (Thomas and Carol Gay Memorial) emphasized reading and writing as tools for building and sustaining community across time and space; Maggie Stiefvater (James A. Houck Memorial) examined the evolving YA genre, contrasting it with adult fiction and discussing its shifting role in the literary market; Chris Crowe (David and Helga Ives Memorial) celebrated the serendipitous connection between children and books that creates lifelong readers. The festival highlighted English literature, community building, and the importance of fostering reading habits among young people.
