48th Annual Southwest Iowa Hot Air Balloon Days

Join Creston and Southwest Iowa September 17–20, 2026 for the 48th annual hot air balloon races.

The Creston Chamber of Commerce lists balloon races, a parade, tethered balloon rides, a vendor market and more. The 2026 weekend is extended to begin on Thursday, September 17.

Local Chamber coverage describes a Thursday night glow at McKinley Park (new for 2026), a Friday evening fun flight after about 5:30 p.m. (weather and wind permitting), and balloon races Friday–Sunday, September 18–20. Many flights operate from the Creston airport, subject to weather.
