Born in Georgia and raised on St. Simons Island. She lives in Harlingen Texas. Her sculptures, which are larger than life, were made using beach trash from South Padre Island in Texas. Lovell is part of the all-female nonprofit organization Washed Up Texas.
Washed Up Texas, a nonprofit organization registered under 501(c)(3) has the mission of educating the public about the plastic pollution crisis in our oceans and bringing awareness to it.
"Connie said I was born an artist. I've always believed that art has a positive effect on society. It helps people find a common ground. You can trust the sculptures will do that. The art was created to bring attention to the trash in our oceans. I want to educate people and help find a solution for this crisis. "I believe that this is a crisis that affects everyone.".
She will speak at the Wednesday morning breakfast, September 13, 2023.
The sculpture can be displayed in museums, airports and hotel lobbys. For a fee.
Sylvia has been a Central Arkansas resident for over 20 years and is well-versed in the nonprofit sector. Sylvia was a former educator and executive director at the Dunbar Garden. She is also the founder and director for the Arkansas Local Foods Initiative and the Executive Director of Potluck Food Rescue.
