About
The 2027 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting takes place April 9–12, 2027 at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, California. Organized by the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), it is the association’s premier scientific and educational gathering for neurosurgeons, residents, fellows, medical students, and allied health professionals.
The 2027 theme, Navigating the Impossible, reflects a defining truth of neurosurgery: specialists confront complexity and uncertainty, testing the boundaries of what is known and what is possible. Through original science, shared experience, and collaboration, the meeting explores how neurosurgeons advance innovation and translate discovery into patient care.

For attendees
Save the date for April 9–12, 2027. Registration is scheduled to open in early November (year preceding the meeting). Early-bird registration ends January 7, 2027. Advance registration and the housing deadline are March 4, 2027.

Abstracts and scientific program
The Scientific Abstract Center opens July 22, 2026 and closes October 1, 2026 (11:59 p.m. ET). Authors may submit original clinical, translational, or basic-science research for the CME-accredited program. Presenting authors of accepted abstracts must register and attend; registration for presenting authors is required by March 5, 2027.
Presentation formats are assigned by the Program Committee and may include oral presentations, rapid-fire oral presentations, physical oral-paper posters in the convention center, and on-demand e-posters.
For exhibitors and sponsors
The annual meeting includes a trade show alongside scientific sessions. Exhibitors can reserve booth space, review the floorplan, and apply for sponsorship. Exhibitor registration opens in January; each 10×10 ft booth includes three complimentary exhibitor badges. The Exhibitor Service Kit is scheduled for September 15, 2026.
