About
Short Run (Short Run Comix Festival) is Seattle's annual festival of small-press comics, zines, artist books, prints and animation, presenting independent cartoonists and micropresses from the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Alongside the one-day festival the organization runs an artist residency, micro-grants, an education program, a micropress store and a paid youth apprenticeship in comics making.
Highlights
- Next festival: Saturday, November 7, 2026 at the Seattle Design Center in the Georgetown neighborhood of Seattle.
- Exhibitor hall of independent cartoonists, micropresses and zine makers; the 2026 roster includes 2dcloud, A. T. Pratt, Aaron Lefler Comix, adam de souza, Agnes Lee, Alex Graham and many more.
- Artist talks with iPad captioning and reserved front-row seating; satellite programming on Capitol Hill.
- Accessibility: gender-neutral restrooms on each floor, elevator access, large-print directional signage, free masks and hand sanitizer at the entrance, and a dedicated lactation/quiet space.
- Apprenticeship program for youth ages 15-19: paid, hands-on comics training culminating in mini-comics sold by the students at the festival.
