The 23rd JAPAN Drugstore Show held in August 2023 was a great success, with 475 companies exhibiting at 1,310 booths and 58,872 people visiting. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all the companies and organizations that exhibited and supported the event. Since the classification of the new coronavirus infection was lowered to Category 5 in May 2023, events have been held in various places, and the number of visitors to Japan has increased, and this show is expected to have more visitors than the previous year. is completed. In June 2024, the Japan Chain Drug Store Association will celebrate its 25th anniversary since its establishment as a voluntary organization. The ``Healthy Life Station'' plan announced in 2022 has set targets for 2030 and new initiatives have begun. Through these initiatives, we will complement Japan's medical system and enhance the functions that drugstores should fulfill, such as treatment support and promotion of self-care. At this show, which will be held for the 24th time, we aim to share this concept across the industry and strengthen collaboration. Representative Director and President My name is Fuminori Sato and I have been appointed as the chairman of the 24th JAPAN Drug Store Show Executive Committee. Thank you. This time, the 24th time to hold the event, the theme was ``Drugstores' challenge to create a diverse society in the future - Searching for the self-medication that suits you.'' We would like everyone to see our efforts to provide our customers with diversity that transcends gender, region, and country, as well as to develop beyond industry frameworks. The drugstore market has grown from approximately 2 trillion yen to 9 trillion yen over the past 20 years. The number of stores exceeds 22,000. Our long-standing goal of achieving sales of 10 trillion yen by 2025 is fast approaching. Going forward, we are forecasting total sales of 13 trillion yen in 2030 through our new plan to turn drugstores into health stations. Through this exhibition, we hope to share various issues and contribute to further industry development.
