The Russian Water Congress is the official water forum of Russia since 2017. The event was held within the framework of Russia's Year of Ecology, as announced by the Decree of President of Russian Federation No. 05.01.2016. "On the holding of the Year of Ecology within the Russian Federation." The Forum is organized annually under the patronage of the Russian Federation's Special Representative for Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport, Sergei Ivanov, the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Russian Federation. The congress aims to create a professional dialogue between water experts and authorities on protecting national water resources.
"The preservation and management of water resources on the planet is a priority task of the global agenda. The world community is currently concerned with the rapid degradation of the aquatic environment and the degrading of water bodies. Water pollution and depletion can have serious environmental consequences".
