The Kentucky Wool Festival takes place on the first weekend in October, in a beautiful location near Kincaid Lake State Park. It is located in Falmouth. Southern Living Magazine featured one of the most significant fall events in the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area. It was named as one of the top 10 wool festivals in America.
The Kentucky Wool Festival focuses on shearing sheep and celebrating the fall harvest. The festival includes a petting zoo for children and a fair with over 100 arts and craft vendors. Live bluegrass music is featured, as are historical reenactments, demonstrations of sheep shearing, displays of local farm products, and more. The festival is centered around food: barbecue, chili, corn on cob, homemade candy, and more.
Since the 1980s, the Kentucky Wool Festival is held to promote the sheep industry, the wool industry and the local community. The festival is a family-friendly event that allows people to have fun, enjoy music and learn more about Kentucky's agricultural heritage.
