Making Schools Better: the Inaugural National Showcase on School Redesign.
The Johns Hopkins University's Everyone Graduates Center will host the first National School Redesign Showcase. Meet and learn from selected school teams made up of students, educators, and administrators from all over the country who will share their visions for improving schools.
The redesign challenge for this year is: How can we design a classroom so that everyone wants to go there and students have a path to adult success? Over the course of the year, teams of school staff and students worked together to do research, survey, and shadow teachers and students. They also experimented with prototypes to improve student engagement, teacher effectiveness, and sense of belonging. The learnings, insights and recommendations of these teams will be astonish attendees. They will show how the education community can improve educational practices by actively engaging those who teach and learn in schools.
At 10:30 am, Robert Balfanz and Christopher Morphew will give the opening remarks. The Showcase will be open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. - come visit at any time and meet the school design team.
