About
Internal Affairs, Professional Standards and Ethics is a nationally recognized professional development program from the Institute for Law Enforcement Administration (ILEA) at The Center for American and International Law (CAIL). It prepares law-enforcement managers to conduct and administer timely, objective and thorough internal affairs inquiries.
Program format
The program runs as two linked sessions:
- Internal Affairs One: The Investigative Process — Oct 26–27, 2026
- Internal Affairs Two: Professional Standards, Integrity and Ethics — Oct 28–30, 2026
Both are held in Plano, Texas. Sessions also recur in spring (May 2027).

Law-enforcement supervisors, managers and professional standards personnel responsible for complaints, investigations and agency integrity.
