The National Book Council organizes the 2020 Malta Book Festival. It will be held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta, 11-15 November.

Although preparations are well underway for this year's edition, the National Book Council will follow the directives of the national health authorities on public gatherings. It is aware that plans for the festival might need to be modified accordingly.

The Malta Book Festival is the most important book festival on the country's cultural calendar. The MBF attracts over 40 exhibitors each year and has a 40,000-plus annual attendance. It also offers many networking opportunities for professionals in the industry.

The MBF began as the Malta Book Fair (1979-192012), which was then known as the MBF. It has grown to be a festival that celebrates all aspects of book culture. In previous years, the Festival's international aspect is reflected in the list of guest authors and publishers. These include: Ros Barber; Shad Alshammari; Basma Abdull Aziz; Alek Popov; Marie Darrieussecq; Maram al-Masri; Dan Sociu; Ros Barber. Vera Duarte, Tim Parks. Philip o Ceallaigh. Naomi Klein.
