Regulated Research Institutions/ Review Committees.
Addition of a section on "private" labs and how they manage approvals.
Private or independent laboratories that are established to assist student researchers, or those which have been set up to provide support to students who wish to conduct research themselves, do not meet the required infrastructure of committees or oversight to be classified as Regulated Research Institutes (RRI). These laboratories are therefore treated the same way as high school labs in terms of the International Rules, and the type of projects that can be done. For purposes of documentation, such facilities may complete the Regulated Research Institution/Industrial Setting Form 1C to address the adult supervision and conditions of research.
Rule 6 amended to include diagnostic applications within the prohibition on practicing medicine.
