Katowice International Fair - Wikipedia

Katowice International Fair.

Katowice International Fair (Polish : Miedzynarodowe Targi Katowickie), was an international trade fair that took place in Katowice. It was one of the largest trade fairs in Poland, the other being the Poznan International Fair. There were about 12 events each year with 4,500 companies participating.

The Katowice International fair grounds are located in the Silesian Central Park next to the Silesian Planetarium in the heart of Upper Silesian Metropolitan Union. There are a few dozen exhibit halls, large open spaces (approximately 24 ha), conference centers and its own hotel.

The Center of Technical Progress opened the grounds in 1963. The activities were mostly noncommercial for many years. Large exhibitions that showcased the achievements of the Soviet Union space program were open to young people. They also provided technical information. They gained a commercial appeal after the 1989 transition to the free market.

The Katowice Trade Hall roof fell on January 6, 2006 at the fair.
