The Euskalduna Conference Centre and Concert Hall (Palacio Euskalduna in Spanish, Euskalduna Jauregia in Basque) is located in the city of Bilbao, Basque Country (Spain), beside the Estuary of Bilbao, built in part of the area that was formerly occupied by the Euskalduna shipyards.
The architects Federico Soriano & Dolores Palacios designed it and construction began in 1994. It was opened in February 1999. It was named the best international congress center by the International Congress Palace Association in 2003. It also received the Enric Miralles Award. Euskalduna hosts and organizes a variety of events, including academic, cultural, and business activities. [1]<br/ >The building's main auditorium can host performances of theatre, opera, ballet, concerts and opera. It has 2.164 seats. [2] The building has storage, dressing rooms and rehearsal rooms.
It is located in Abandoibarra near the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. It is easily accessible from the rest of Bilbao by tram, Bilbao Metro Lines 1, 2 and Cercanias Bilbao Lines C1 and C2. It is centrally located, so activities such as BAO are easily accessible. This building hosts the ABAO opera season. [3] The building also houses the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra, (BOS), which was founded in 1920.
