Gilmer County has enjoyed the Georgia Apple Festival for 53 years. Ellijay, East Ellijay, and other nearby towns host hundreds of vendors selling handmade items. There are also live music performances, demonstrations on site, and fair food.
The festival's name is derived from the local orchards that are full of ripening apple trees. The Georgia Apple Festival has grown from a small art & craft show to a four-day festival. It still retains a small town feel despite its growth.
