Cirque du Soleil’s most captivating stage production Corteo is returning to Europe for the first time and will be heading to Rotterdam to enchant audiences. Corteo is an Italian word that means "procession". It's a joyful procession and a festive, clown-designed parade.
The show combines the passion and strength of an actor with that of an acrobat in order to transport the audience into a world of comedy, fun and spontaneity in the mysterious space between earth and heaven. The clown imagines himself at his funeral, in a carnivalesque setting, surrounded by angels who are quietly caring. The show contrasts the large with the small, and the absurd with the tragic, and the magic with the charm of imperfections. It highlights the strength and vulnerability of the clown, along with his wisdom and kindness to illustrate that we all have humanity within us. Corteo is taken on a journey of timeless celebration, where illusion and reality are teased by the music.
