The winners of the competition by The Danish Foundation for Culture and Sports Facilities to design Pulsen - The Community Centre of the Future - were announced as SEA and Elkiaer + Ebbeskov. From 43 submissions, the project was chosen as the winner. The community centre, which will cost approximately 62 million DKK, will be built in Balling, north-west Denmark. Pulsen is a combination of a medical centre, doctors, dentists, and specialists. Sports center offering activities from handball to yoga. The wellness center offers thermal baths, spas, and a fitness room. A cultural house and learning center with facilities for workshops and events for music and art. The village within the village concept was used to organize the project. Each function is located in separate buildings linked by covered streets and squares. These interconnected spaces provide opportunities to meet, play, eat, and drink.
\"Sport and health are something that unites people across generations. The new Community Centre in Balling is therefore centered on health. However, health is not enough to create a gathering place. We have made the decision to make the building a small \"town\", with streets and squares. This will allow residents to absorb the new framework and have fun, regardless of whether they have errands or not.
