The European Space Agency (ESA) selected CALICO as part of its selection process for the next M7 mission. It was led by Lulea University of Technology. CALICO (Ceres Autonomous Lander Into Crater Occator), is a proposal for a mission which aims to land on Ceres, a dwarf planet, to study its surface material and activity.
Lulea University of Technology is part of a large EU project on carbon dioxide capture and use (CCU). The university's researchers, together with SunPine biorefinery, captures the factory's carbon dioxide through biotechnology. The carbon dioxide is then shipped to companies that manufacture green products.
A new investigation by the government has led to the proposal of building a Swedish research centre for innovation-critical metals, and minerals at Lulea University of Technology.
