One-hundred year-old University of Murcia (UM), can be traced back to the 13th century. It is an international reference center for higher education in South-Eastern Spain's Region of Murcia. The UM is committed to academic excellence and plays a crucial role in research, teaching, and innovation. It is also a vital social engine, reaching out across the Mediterranean basin through its International Campus of Excellence Mare Nostrum (CMN). With its clear digital university strategy, the UM is a leader in e-government.
Twenty-one Faculties are responsible for the UM's academic, cultural and other activities. Seventeen of these are located on the Espinardo Campus (to the north). The UM is a comprehensive public university offering undergraduate, master, and doctoral programs in Arts and Humanities as well as Engineering, Health Sciences and Sciences.
The UM encourages innovation and research in all knowledge areas and works closely with international and national companies. The UM has agreements with over 900 universities worldwide and has a diverse student body. This is thanks to the ERASMUS Program as well as specific agreements with universities in Latin America, North America and Africa. Because of the many international projects that our institution coordinates, it is the reference center of the European Commission. It is also a key player within the Mediterranean region. It opens up to Europe.
Students have the chance to develop their intellectual skills and learn professional skills in this setting. There are several Libraries that have \"historical archives\", as well as Sports facilities and cultural activities. The Language Center offers courses for 10 languages, including Spanish. The UM ranked in position 101-125 in the Times Higher Education Student Survey in 2018 (https://www.um.es/web/umu-en-cifras/ranquines/the-world-university-rankings).
Students at UM value the many opportunities to interact and learn with teachers. They also appreciate the accessibility to materials and the environment. It is one of Spain's top-rated universities. Many of our alumni have positions in internationally acclaimed companies across all industries: law, biomedicine, finance, economics and government among others.
In recent years, the UM has made significant progress in integrating technologies that promote renewable energy, efficiency and savings. The 2030 Agenda also includes the UM.
