It is home to the historic Eisenhower Observatory and a community pool. Playground at Eisenhower Elementary The playground was updated in 2013. The brightly colored structure is designed for grade school children and a little more challenging than park playgrounds geared toward preschool and toddlers. These events are best suited for kids who are in grade two or higher. At these events, an experienced guide leads the public in viewing stars, planets, and the night sky during viewing nights at this dome-enclosed telescope. The observatory is located in Room 347 of the community center. Learn more here. Viewing sessions are free, but reservations are required and can be made online or by calling 952-988-4070. Advice for attending public viewing nights: The observatory’s website includes the following information for those planning to visit on a public viewing night: Dress for the weather, the dome is open to the outdoors. In case of inclement weather on your viewing night, call 952-988-4114 two hours prior to your viewing time for cancellation information. It is necessary to climb a tall metal staircase to gain access to the Observatory dome. Although viewing sessions are free, a $2 donation for adults, $1 for students is requested.
