MISSION: To sustain and promote Robert Allerton Park's legacy and to engage and enrich the University of Illinois community as well as the citizens of Illinois in the arts, nature, and landscape ecology.

VISION: To encourage the community to use and appreciate nature, history and the arts through accessible, sustainable programming, research and facilities.

Allerton Park and Retreat Centre was built in 1900 as a private residence for Robert Allerton, an artist and philanthropist. It was later donated to the University of Illinois by Robert Allerton in 1946. It includes 1,500 acres of woodlands and prairie areas, a reflecting pond, a mansion, a meadow measuring 10 acres, formal sculpture gardens and hiking trails. There are also several lodging options.

Allerton is a place where you can escape the noise and distractions of daily life and enjoy art, nature and history. Wander through 14 miles of trails and admire the expansive, tranquil grounds. Outdoor concerts, youth summer camps and themed dinners are some of the programs that are open to the public. There are also tours, nature hikes and other educational events.

Allerton is a popular destination for conferences, weddings and other special events. The intimate, private setting is a great place for businesses and organizations to reflect and be creative. The Mansion's magnificent gardens and stunning Mansion offer a unique experience for wedding couples and their guests.
