Cash is no longer an option for payment. This will reduce the amount of contact with our customers and speed up service. Cash or tickets are not accepted by food and beverage vendors. At the souvenir stand in the Heidelberg Hall, you can convert cash into a Fest card for on-site usage.ParkingParking costs $12 per vehicle. There is plenty of paved parking available for everyone.History of OktoberfestWe would like to extend a warm welcome to you at the Annual Columbus Oktoberfest on behalf of the Schmidt Family and the Columbus Oktoberfest. The event has a long history in Columbus, and the Schmidt family is a part of that tradition.The Columbus Oktoberfest began in Schiller park, moved to Ohio Expo Center and then set up in multiple locations throughout German Village over several years. (These sites became unavailable because of new developments in the district). The German Village Society, despite its success, decided to cancel Oktoberfest on July 9, 2009 due to a lack in profitability and a desire to stop relying solely on weather events to raise funds.The Schmidt Family stepped up to help the Oktoberfest. They partnered with the Ohio Expo Center, which was a successful venue that offered unique facilities that resembled authentic German beer halls, and the Cox Family. Another local business, they have over 65 years experience in the events industry. The Schmidts, along with their partners, were able, in only 11 weeks, to create an Oktoberfest that was beyond expectations.The Ohio Expo Center is a wonderful place to be! The Ohio Expo Center features authentic facilities, including 100-year-old historic pavilions with 100,000 square feet covered space.
