NSA Scotsheep | National Sheep Association

Scotsheep NSA.

This is a day you should not miss if you are interested in sheep or beef.

NSA Scotsheep, a biennial event organized by NSA Scotland, will be the biggest specialist event on the calendar of sheep producers in Scotland & North of England for 2024.

The Scottish Region of the National Sheep Association will host NSA Scot Sheep in 2024 on Wednesday, 5th June, 2024 at Aikengall Farm in Innerwick, Dunbar in East Lothian. This is where the Hamilton family, James, Charles, and Harry along with their mother Vanessa, and their father John, who passed away in 1998, moved from Dykefoot in Lanarkshire and South Cobbinshaw, Lanarkshire.

The 2024 event will follow the successful format developed over recent years and will include an extensive trade stand area with approximately 160 commercial and educational trade stands, 40 sheep breed societies trade stands/demonstrations; farm tour; comprehensive seminar and workshop programme; educational and working demonstrations; sheep dog trial; show and sale of pairs of ewe hoggs; fencing, stockjudging and NSA Next Generation Shepherd of The Year competitions as well as inviting schoolchildren from local schools in the East Lothian area to attend through the Royal Highland Educational Trust.

The Hamilton family expanded their farming interests after taking over Aikenagall Farm, where the 1900 acres (770ha), on the edge the Lammermuir Hills rise from 900ft to 1200ft. They also took on the tenancy for the 1200 acres (485) farming unit at Nunraw Farm in Garvald, in 2010, and the 600 acres (240 acres) farm near Haddington in 2022. The Hamiltons contract farm a 2000-acre (800-hectare) upland unit at Heriot in Midlothian, with the Walgates. The Hamiltons have grown their business by running over the farming units, 2800 breeding sheep and a commercial herd. They finish all progeny with home-grown feed, and breed replacements using a closed flock/herd, only purchasing tups or bulls when required.
