The MHBA Yearling Show Crab Feast 90th Annual Yearling ShowSunday, July 21, * 9 amMaryland State Fairgrounds TimoniumJudge: TBAEntry fee for the 90th Annual Yearling Show of the Maryland Horse Breeders Association is $25 per horse. Keep an eye out for updates.The first show, held in 1932 to showcase Maryland breeders' yearlings on the lawn of the old Pimlico Clubhouse, was held in the grass in front. The show moved to Timonium State Fairgrounds, where it has been ever since 1960. Twenty-six Hall of Fame Trainers have judged our show, including Triple Crown winning trainers Sunny Jim Fitzsimmons and Max Hirsch. Lucien Laurin, as well as Triple Crown-winning Billy Turner, also judged in 1977 the day after Seattle Slew had won the Preakness. Alfred G. Vanderbilt is the owner of the most yearling show winners, with his Sagamore Farm having won seven shows between 1934 and 1967. Alfred G. Vanderbilt’s Discovery is the most successful sire in the history of the yearling shows, having sired five champions within a span of seven years.Past Judges Previous WinnersAll yearlings that are eligible to register as Maryland-bred can enter the MHBA Yearling Show. It is usually held on the fourth sunday of June and judged by an experienced national trainer.There are four classes. There are four classes: Maryland-sired geldings and colts (this may be divided evenly by birth date after entries have closed), Maryland-sired stallions (this could also be evenly split by birth date after entries have closed), and out-of state-sired stallions and colts.All horses that are exhibited at the Yearling Show Purse Awards totaling $40,000 will be eligible to receive the prize money on the day of the event.You can win this prize twice.A purse of $40,000 from the MHBA Yearling Show will be divided and distributed twice.The top four 2-year-old money-winners* will receive $20,000 and the next year, $20,000 each will be given to the highest-earning 3-year-old performers.The previous MHBA Yearling show Premium winnersThe Jockey Club verifies all earnings.Crab Feast
