Louny is a town that has a long history and continuous traditions. The extensive reconstructions have brought the architectural sights of the town back to life, and made the area more appealing to both locals and visitors.
St. Nicholas Church, built between 1519 and 1538 by architect Benedikt Rjt, is considered to be a masterpiece from the late Gothic period in Czech Republic. It is a prominent landmark in the town. From its tower, you can see the entire town and surrounding hills.
Louny offers a wide range of sports and cultural events, including the Municipal Swimming Hall, Municipal Sports Hall, Municipal Swimming Hall, and newly renovated Vrchlickeho Theatre. Paragliders and Handgliders are well known for the Rana Hill, which is nearby. The large park area near the river not only hosts different shopping exhibitions but is also considered as part of the town's recreational/relaxation area with different cultural, social and sporting events. This is the only permanent display area in the Louny region, Chomutov region and Most region.
It is only a short drive to Prague. This proximity was one of the reasons that led to the establishment of the Southeast Industrial Zone, which offers business opportunities for foreign investors. The newly created Garden City Residential Area has also changed the image of Louny.
