Manufacturing World Nagoya, which consists of a total seven exhibitions, is one of Chubu's largest manufacturing events. The event attracts many visitors from manufacturing companies from all over the Chubu area and beyond, including the design and engineering departments, production and manufacturing engineering departments, and IT and plant management.
Many exhibitors wanted to expand sales channels in Chubu, so they requested that the exhibition not only be held in Tokyo and Osaka but also in Nagoya. The decision was taken to hold the April 2016 exhibition in Nagoya as a response. Immediate after the announcement of the exhibition, exhibitors began to flood in and the venue was expanded. The fair was a major trade show with 707 exhibitors in its first edition (including simultaneous exhibitions). By 2022 it will be Asia’s largest manufacturing trade show, with 1,650 exhibitor.
Aichi Prefecture is the centre of Chubu, one of Japan's most important manufacturing clusters. In April 2016, the first exhibition in Nagoya was held to respond to engineers' requests for a large-scale manufacturing trade fair to be held at Aichi where major manufacturers of automotive, heavy industries, and aeronautics are located. It was a huge success, with over 35,361 attendees in its third edition. The Chubu-focused trade fair received high expectations. This exhibition will be held in three editions a year after Tokyo and Osaka to help revitalise the manufacturing industry throughout the country.
