Cell and gene therapies are new life-changing categories of medicine whose potential is just now beginning to be realized. These are fields that are rapidly advancing in the field of Biological Therapies. Both therapies are designed to treat, prevent, or possibly cure disease. They both offer the possibility to reduce the cause of genetic or acquired diseases. Cell and gene therapy may have a longer-lasting effect than traditional medicine. Biomedical research and treatment overlap in these fields. Cell and gene therapies are different. Cell therapy is used to treat disease by altering or restoring certain cells, or by using the cells to transport a therapy throughout the body. Gene therapy treats disease by replacing or inactivating genes or inserting them into cells, either within the body or outside the body. Some therapies can be classified as both cell and genetic therapies. These therapies are based on inserting genes into specific types of cell and modifying them.
