The project is worth 2.1 trillion.After signing an agreement in 2023's first half, the project is expected to start construction in 2023's second half.The DONG-A ILBO reported that on December 10, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that Hanwha E&C was the preferred bidder to build a sports, meetings, incentives and conferences (MICE) facility in Jamsil. The Korea International Trade Association consortium (KITA), which was in competition with Hanwha E&C for the winning bid, became next preferred bidder.Hanwha Engineering & Construction, based in South Korea, is known for its ability in completing large-scale, complex projects on the global market. These include building a city, constructing chemical factories in the Middle East, North Africa, and completing real estate projects throughout the Americas.'THE DONG-A ILBO,' stated that the Seoul Metropolitan Government intends to form a negotiating group as soon as possible. Negotiations with the preferred bidder will begin as early as January of next year. The estimated cost of the project is around 2,16 trillion won, and construction is expected to take six years.Since 2016, the project is in progress with a goal to build a multipurpose building that will include exhibitions, conventions, sports and culture, as well as commercial and business facilities, hotels, and other businesses. The preferred bidder was selected following a thorough evaluation of the development plan, construction plan, operational plan and public interest. This evaluation was conducted by an evaluation committee under the supervision of the Seoul Public Investment Management Service, part of the Seoul Institute.The complex in Jamsil, if built as planned, will help the city increase its competitiveness by promoting global exchange business and displaying new industries such as smart mobility.
