Asia NOW 10TH Edition:. October 17-20, 2024 * Monnaie de Paris. Asia NOW is pleased to welcome Slavs & Tatars, as Guest Curators for its 9th Edition. Slavs & Tatars are the first Guest Curators of Asia NOW's 9th Edition.
The Asia NOW-Paris Asian Art Fair celebrated the 9th edition of its fair from October 20, 2023 to October 22, 2023 at Monnaie de Paris.
Asia NOW selected 66 galerie.5 non-profit art spaces, leading galleries of contemporary art from around the world. They presented more than 220 artist from 26 countries in Asia and its Diaspora. This includes West, South-East and East Asia, as well as Central Asia.
Slavs and Tatars, an internationally recognized art collective, is dedicated to the area known as Eurasia which lies East of the former Berlin Wall and west of the Great Wall of China. The collective, which was founded in 2006, has demonstrated a deep understanding of social issues, paving new paths in contemporary discourse through a purely idiosyncratic knowledge production. This includes popular culture, spiritual traditions, oral history, modern myths and scholarly research. The work of the collective has been shown in solo exhibitions around the world, including at the Vienna Secession, MoMA New York, Salt Istanbul, Albertinum Dresden, Centre Pompidou Metz, among others.
The collective's practice is based on three activities: exhibitions, publications, and lecture-performances. To date, the collective has published over twelve books. The most recent is Luk Buk with Distanz Verlag. Slavs & Tatars, a slavic aperitivo-bar-cum-project, opened Pickle Bar in 2020. It is located just a few doors away from their Berlin studio, Moabit.
