The Penrod Arts Fair | Indiana's Nicest Day
The Penrod Arts Fair. The Penrod Arts Fair has become known as "India's Nicest Day". The first Fair took place in the afternoon, on a single day (2p.m.). The first Fair was a one-day afternoon event (2p.m. to 7 p.m.), which took place in Oldfields, on the Saturday following Labor Day. Admission was only $2 in 1967 (quite a lot of money! Attendees were given free beer or, more accurately, enticed by it to come. Live music, food, drinks, paintings and other artwork were available for sale.
