The Ministry of Ecological Transition in Spain (MITECO) has updated its National Energy and Climate Plan PNIEC with a higher target for installed solar power of 76GW by 2020.
At the end of 2022 the country will have installed nearly 20GW in total solar PV (an additional 6.2GW total capacity: approximately 3.7GW ground-mounted and a total 2.5 GW self-consumption).
Also, the Spanish Government says that it plans to deploy 22 GW in storage by 2030.
The government of Spain has launched a grant program worth EUR150 millions for projects that store energy alone, EUR150 for projects that use hybrid storage and EUR30 for projects storing thermal energy.
