This division was created to advance the knowledge about the use of particle-accelerator technologies in nuclear and other applications. The division focuses on the production of neutrons or other particles and their use for industrial or scientific purposes. This includes production or destruction radionuclides that are important to energy, medicine or defense, or other endeavors.

Kazakhstan is poised to make a major move in nuclear energy as the world moves towards clean, sustainable energy. Kassym Jomart Tokayev, the Kazakh President, has proposed a national vote to gauge Kazakhstan's position regarding the building of a nuclear plant. This will allow for a more in-depth discussion on the nation's future energy path.
