Pharmaceuticals is one of Bangladesh's fastest-growing sectors. In 2004, the pharma industry in Bangladesh was estimated at Taka 30,000 millions with an annual growth of 10%. In Bangladesh, the pharma industry is the second-largest revenue contributor to the government's coffers. The member companies of BAPI are able to meet 97% of total pharmaceutical demand. Bangladesh exports its formulations in 62 different countries around the world, and this demand is growing rapidly. Bangladesh Pharmaceutical Industry has now reached self-sufficiency in pharmaceuticals.
