Indonesia's cable industry has demonstrated its competitiveness with its ability to manufacture telecommunication cables as well as power cables and other special cables like signal cables and wiring harnesses. In the power cable industry, there are 54 domestic factories with a total production capacity of 250,000 tons for aluminium and copper conductors per year and 450,000 tons for copper conductors.

The Domestic Component Level of many cable products, and their derivatives, is extremely high. The TKDN of bare cable conductors and low voltage cables has exceeded the minimum TKDN.

According to the instruction of President Joko, the downstream industrial development must be accelerated by reducing raw material exports, and this will lead to independence in the domestic industry. This includes the cable industry.
