The event will take place at Astle Park in Chelford (Cheshire), SK11 9.This year, the Astle Park Traction Engine Rally is going full steam! This spectacular event, which has been running for many years, is set in a beautiful parkland and features non-stop entertainment.View huge displays of exhibits all over the UK, including traction engines. Showman's engines, fairground organs and more, creating a traditional atmosphere. Visit displays of classic/vintage vehicles, including motorcycles, Series 1 Land Rovers and cars.Visit us for an exciting family day trip or weekend camping. We have vintage and modern fairs, falconry and children's inflatables, as well as various catering outlets and trade stands. Relax in the licensed bar on Saturday evening with live music and don't forget to watch the spectacular firework display.What's OnTraction enginesTraction engines, or self-propelled steam engine, were invented in the 1800s and used for haulage of all kinds. Many were also used in agriculture.There will be a variety of steam engines on display, including the showman’s road locomotives designed to power and transport a travelling amusement park, rollers, tractors and buses made by Burrell, Fowler and Foden as well as Aveling & Porter. The engines will also be displayed in the main arena every day, along with the static display. It is a wonderful sight!Fairground OrgansMechanical organs are available in many forms, from the loud fairground organs used in travelling fairs, to dance organs that play in ballrooms, to street organs, which are operated by organ grinders.
