The ASEAN TENAGA Energy has been successfully held in Southeast Asia for over two decades. It is dedicated to the electrical, utilities, and power industry. The expo, which has been well received by the industry for many years, will showcase leading suppliers, subsuppliers, and service providers across the entire value chain of power generation on its exhibition floor.
ASEAN TENAGA Energy is a platform for participants to exchange their expertise and knowledge in the power and electrical industries. According to an Eco-Business regional study, Southeast Asia's electrical demand is expected to double by 2040 to 2,000 tera-watt-hours (TWH). This presents a wealth of opportunities to businesses in the power generation and electric industry. ASEAN TENAGA energy aims to take advantage of this industry growth for its visitors.
Malaysia has relied heavily on fossil fuels to generate electricity. Between 2015 and 2020, more than 12,000 MW will be added to the TNB Power Plant Janamanjung U4 with its 1,010MW capacity.
The demand for electricity will grow by 3%-4% per year, which means that the transmission system needs to be upgraded and expanded. The forecast for electricity in Peninsular Malaysia shows a slight decrease compared to previous forecasts. By 2025, peak demand is expected to reach 23 GW. Total installed generation capacity that will be connected to the transmission network will be approximately 29 GW.
