India is dependent on imports for 75 to 80% of medical devices. In 2019-20, India's exports were US$ 2.51 billion. They are expected to increase to US$ 10 trillion by 2025. Imports from the US, China, and Germany are high. US companies are attracted to medical devices as an export market.

The Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), implemented various initiatives to increase the export of medical devices.
