China Hi-Tech Fair

The first session was held from October 5-10 1999. Its theme (highlight), A Milestone in the Development of China's High-Tech Industry, attracted the participation of central leaders, including Zhu Rongji. He is a member of Standing Committee of Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee, and Premier of State Council.

Zhu Rongji (then Premier of the State Council) personally attended the opening ceremony and announced, "In order to promote economic, technological and cooperation between China with other countries in the world, the Chinese Government has decided to host the China International Hi-Tech Fair every year in Shenzhen.".

The second session was held from October 12-17 2000. Wu Bangguo is a member of CPC Central Committee's Political Bureau and Vice Premier.

The second Hi-Tech Fair took place from 11-17 October 2000 at the Hi-Tech Fair Exhibition Center. Wu Bangguo (then Vice Premier of State Council) attended the opening ceremony, and gave a speech. The second Hi-Tech Fair is divided into three sections: display and trade of high-tech products, high-tech product exhibition and high-tech forums. Two new professional exhibitions have been added to the professional products exhibition: "Biotechnology Professional Products Exhibition", and "New Materials Professional Products Exhibition".

The third session was held from October 12-17 2001. Its theme (highlights), stronger organizational strength and more prominent professional themes. Central leaders were present: Wu Yi, alternate Member of the Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee, State Councilor.
