One of its most prominent residents named this stately English Tudor Revival Style house "El Roble", a Spanish translation, in honor of the stately oak that once graced it's magnificent front lawn. Potter Daniels Manor is the name given to it in recent years to honor its original owner, while also paying tribute to its second owner's English heritage. The home was built by Joseph J. Blick in 1902, a pioneer architect from Pasadena, for Gertrude Potter Daniels. It served as a winter home for Gertrude Potter Daniels and her two sons. The elegant shingle style structure was built for $15,000, which was a large sum at the time. The home had a beautiful setting, overlooking the Arroyo Seco, and was surrounded by vineyards and orange groves.
