The Pacific Brant Carving & Art Show is rooted in the Parksville/Qualicum region on Vancouver Island. The first Brant Wildlife Festival was organized in 1991 by volunteers of the Mid Island Wildlife Watch Society to celebrate the arrival Pacific Brant Geese. Every year, 1000s of Brant Geese stop by to feed and rest before moving on to their Arctic breeding grounds. The Nature Trust of British Columbia coordinated the festival in 2006. The Vancouver Island Woodcarvers Club, which has now merged with the Mid Island Woodworkers Guild, has sponsored the woodcarving contest and wildlife art exhibition since the Brant Wildlife Festival began. From 2011 to 2015, the show moved south to Sidney and Victoria. It returned to Parksville for 2016.

Since several years, the show has become one of Canada's most renowned wildlife woodcarving contests. It has also been featured in Wildfowl Carving Magazine "Competition". The show was expanded in recent years to include a woodturning contest as well as many commercial booths featuring top wildlife artists from the Island. The show brings in many well-known BC wildlife artists, photographers, and sculptors. It also gives talented carvers and turnings from the Pacific Northwest and Canada an opportunity to showcase their work and compete for cash and ribbons.
