Every first Saturday, the market takes place in the 400-year-old market square at the heart of this ancient city. The market began as a series of tentative trials in 2001. It became a regular monthly event in the town by October 2002, and it is still popular today!

Axbridge is the perfect place for a canopy outdoor market. It offers about 25 stalls. The square is home to excellent hotels, cafes and the King John's Hunting Lodge museum. It can also be used as a base to explore nearby Cheddar and the Mendip Hills. Two years in a line, the market was shortlisted for Taste of the West's best farmer's market category.

Axbridge Town Parking on Old Church Road, and a smaller parking lot on Moorland Road are both within walking distance of the market. On-street parking is available on Houlgate way - but please respect driveways and other areas. Market Square is usually crowded on market days. The 126 bus route to/from Wells or Weston-super-Mare makes a stop in the Square.
