In the past decade, photography has become a major part of museums and the art world. We want to encourage and nurture the creative trades of all major players in the art world, including photography.

Photo basel aims to combine and include galleries of all ages, both young and renowned, Swiss as well international, with bold contemporary programs as well those with strong historical positions. Visitors and collectors will have the opportunity to meet galleries that are known for their ability to translate the DNA of historic photographic practices as well as those with a bold contemporary program.
