According to the most recent report, Pakistan is seeing a rise in solar home systems such as solar lighting, solar water heaters, and solar water pumps. According to IRENA, hydropower is a significant part of Pakistan's energy mix. The country has 7.1 GW installed grid-connected power and a potential of up to 60 GW in economic and technical hydropower. It also identifies 50GW of theoretical wind power potential in Pakistan's southern Sindh province and Baluchistan.

The consumers are attracted to low-cost energy resources. Solar-based energy generation is the most cost-effective source of power for both commercial and industrial units. The price of this production unit is lower than that of gas-based plants.
