Canberra Lapidary Club

The Canberra Lapidary Club: Future Dates for your Diary

In October 2000, the Canberra Lapidary Club was formed following the merger of the Canberra Gem Society Inc. with the ACT Lapidary & Mineral Club Inc. In 2003, the former Canberra Fossicking and Metal Detecting Club Inc. joined.

The Club is a repository of knowledge and experience that it shares in all aspects of the craft. Visitors and new members will always be welcome to the monthly meetings held at the Clubhouse on the second Thursday each month, except in January. These meetings include a guest speaker and a discussion about Club matters. There are also exhibits or demos. The meeting is followed by light supper.

The Club offers workshops and meeting rooms where courses can be held on a 'as needed' basis. These include cabochon cutting and opal carving, jewellery making, and faceting.

Monthly outings are held. These are normally day trips, but sometimes two- or three-day trips to distant collecting areas are organized.

The Canberra Lapidary Club has a group membership with the Gem & Lapidary Council of NSW and is a member of Australian Federation of Lapidary and Allied Crafts Association.

The 2024 Rock Swap is scheduled for Saturday, 16 March and Sunday, 17 March.

Location: Parrot Park (Exhibition Park on the Federal Highway), Canberra.

There will be dealers and fossickers selling jewellery, fossils rocks, mineral specimens, and lapidary supply.
