The Ohio State Pharmaceutical Association was founded in Columbus, Ohio on September 2, 1879 under the name Ohio Pharmacists Association.

The Association's purpose was to enhance the profession of pharmacy by uniting reputable druggists in the state to encourage education and stimulate talent in those who practiced it. The present-day OPA, in cooperation with its leaders and members, continues to operate by this purpose to positively impact the pharmacy profession.

The Ohio Pharmacists Association's mission is to empower and invest in Ohio pharmacists as experts in medication in all settings.

The Ohio Pharmacists Foundation's mission is to educate pharmacists, pharmacy technologists, and patients about the benefits of using pharmacy, as well as to conduct research in support of these efforts.

The Ohio Pharmacists Association Executive Fellowship is a postgraduate program that takes place at the Ohio Pharmacists Association's headquarters, under the supervision of OPA staff. The fellowship offers a great opportunity for anyone who is interested in learning about all the areas necessary to run a successful nonprofit and developing their leadership skills.
