The National Sports Collectors Convention brings together collectors, dealers, and any other group interested in trading cards, autographs, and other memorabilia. In 1980, a group gathered in the Los Angeles International Airport Marriott's small ballroom to create the first National Sports Collectors Convention. The National is now a once-a-year extravaganza and the premier showcase of the collectibles business. The National's founders wanted to include collectors across the nation, so they stipulated the event would move around the United States to ensure all collectors and exhibitor could participate. The first Nationals were held around the New York metropolitan area, St Louis, Chicago and Detroit.
